Twenty some years ago, a youth from Pingtung was transferred to Hualien a half year before he could be discharged from the army in Tainan. When he got the news he was distressed. “Why do I have to suffer in the wilderness that I haven’t never been to right before I am about to complete my military service?” he thought. When he arrived there, he was surprised by what he saw, including the front streets, beaches, rear streets, green hills, numerous scenic spots in the suburbs. The weather was benign and the residents were primitive. All these things made him feel the vast difference between realities and tales. Since then, he has enjoyed exploring each scenic spot on holidays after he was officially discharged from the army.

He became aware of falling in love with Hua-lian while he was ready to be demobilized. He was then determined to live here. When the idea struck him, he knew he had a battle to fight with his parents, because he is their firstborn. However, his decision was as firm as a rock even though he had been hired for a key position in a governmental organization in Kaohsiung. He borrowed from his friend three thousand dollars and then returned to Hualian. He quickly spent all the money borrowed on his pioneering work. He was too poor to supply himself and ate instant noodles day after day. He had no one to help him and no money to rent a house, and had to live in a deserted house. He covered himself up with a jacket when the winter night came. He bathed in a brook but told himself that was nothing but trial.

It was difficult to find a job. He started a business of selling marble trinkets at a stall. However, he often times had to play “hide and seek” with the police. After that, he changed his business into art producing and selling, and then he took a loan to buy a house. However, he was scammed by his friend. He lost everything he had, even his own house and bicycle. But soon, he operated a business in both architecture and construction to create the company Fudo Housing & Development CO.LTD.. So far, his career has become much better and he luckily married a Hakka virtuous woman born in a famous place, Lin-Teng-Shan, Hualien. She is a diligent, slender and pretty lady. From then on, their love and work have grown firm in Hualien.

More than ten years have passed, His two sons grew up and pursued their education in other places. This not only left him ample time to be volunteers of LifeLine and Tzu-Chi but also gave him an idea of sharing his suites with visitors who feel affiliated with Hualian. Once here, they can discover natural scenery, visit towns and locals, and live in a warm house just like their own in Hualian. What a wonderful life!
